KYLE VELEZ PRINTS
Kyle Velez
Painter.
Kyle Velez is a young Surrealist artist from Las Vegas, New Mexico. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, his art serves as a conduit for the complexities of vanity and the way the body is viewed from the knowing outsider. Drawing from personal experience, Velez sheds light on the hidden and sometimes disturbing realms of the human mind. His work reflects the sensitivity and struggle of the varying phases of mental health, inner conflict and emotion. His work has been displayed in galleries and auctions in Albuquerque and Las Vegas, Nevada. With an associates in fine arts, and a bachelors in progress, Velez continues his study while painting for clients worldwide.
“I am endlessly inspired by early Catholic art. As an outsider to religious practice, I bring a unique perspective to my work. This distance allows me to approach the subject matter with a sense of curiosity and openness, unencumbered by the weight of tradition. Through my paintings, I seek to foster a dialogue that transcends religious boundaries and speaks to the universal aspects of human introspection and yearning in a fresh and unconventional light. My oil paintings serve as a bridge between the sacred and the contemporary. I enjoy blending traditional religious iconography with elements of pop art and surrealism. Through this fusion, I aim to evoke a sense of wonder and contemplation, inviting viewers to explore the intersections of faith, mythology, and the complexities of the human experience.”
